System Fall - Volume II - Chapter 21. Ten Tickets

In the days that followed, the new schedule I'd pushed for and implemented turned out to be a win for everyone. Sure, it wasn't perfectly fair, but people were satisfied enough to not complain about it too loudly. They were boosting their stats and scoring some decent items—and occasionally, some rare artifacts, too.

Because folks weren't constantly trading points or using up items anymore, exchanges happened a lot more. Bonds were forming, not just between individuals but also among different groups led by various [Leaders].

Someone tossed out the term 'clan,' but another person argued that we weren't really close enough to be a ‘clan’ and that ‘clan’ had a lot more loyalty and long term attached to it. For a brief moment, I felt a twinge of panic and thought the whole thing might get blown. What if the inability of the players of the Survivor’s Compound to agree on a name prevented the guild system from taking shape? But before long, a few players who had experience with a game called Dragons and Treasures popularized the term, and it caught on.

Olivia seemed to like the idea of clans. Her 'Supremacy Clan' was also recognized as a guild. If the phrase "Supremacy Clan Guild" bugged her, she didn't let it show.

While everyone else was leveling up and breaking into D-Rank, I was occupied with repelling the Drowned Ones sent by the Ancient Mariner.

But I had to wonder: Was this actually better for me? Most of my valuable items came from quests, boss battles, and Hidden Dungeons. My actual luck in regards to drops from regular monsters was trash. I usually ended up with junk like [Box of Matches], [Soiled Clothing], or [Seaweed]. These items were more suited for salvaging raw crafting components, and I already had a lighter.

It was one of times when you're short on something crucial, find an alternative, and then suddenly the thing you needed in the first place is everywhere. My stats were growing, but I wasn’t satisfied with the speed of their progression.

"I've got to break through this next limit," I thought to myself. My skills were climbing up the ladder pretty fast, but that wasn't cutting it for boosting my Mana. To channel it effectively into regular weapons, I needed to clear the level 30.0 hurdle.

The alternative was getting my hands on an item with mana-channeling properties. I already had my eye on one: the Five Fifty Cord Plus. It was there in the Store, fitting my needs like a glove, but it cost a whopping 10 Raffle Tickets. Some of the lesser elite enemies that had started to spawn, like the Drowned Albatross, dropped only half a Raffle Ticket each.

By the time I bolted to the other end of Central Island near the river, Eugene and Pam were already taking on a Drowned Albatross. Lucky for me, they were more than happy to let me take over, sparing me the annoyance of carting around half a Raffle Ticket.
